Pet Boarding

Scott County Animal Hospital offers safe & comfortable boarding for all pets in a state-licensed and veterinary-supervised facility in Eldridge, Iowa.

We are located just minutes north of the Iowa Quad Cities in a semi-rural area. The boarding facility is an integral part of our full-service veterinary hospital.

Though we are a busy veterinary hospital, our staff prides itself on caring for all boarding pets as if they were our own. All pets are supervised throughout the day, and any problems are immediately brought to the attention of our veterinarians.

Scott County Animal Hospital has private runs with raised resting platforms for large dogs, as well as comfortable individual cages for smaller dogs. Cats are housed in a separate room to help them remain calm and relaxed throughout their stay. Scott County Animal Hospital does not have indoor/outdoor runs at this time, but we do have a large security-fenced grass yard for playtimes and walks.

To ensure your pet's comfort and safety, we provide:
    - grass play yard with security fence
    - dogs are never left outside alone
    - raised sleeping areas in runs
    - comfortable bedding
    - stainless steel bowls
    - premium Science Diet food
    - soothing Canine Companion music 24 hours a day
    - outdoor walks twice daily in fenced grass yard
    - climate-controlled kennels
    - separate facilities for cats
    - convenient Saturday & Sunday pickup times

Additional Services
Pets can have additional playtimes and noon walks. Medications will be administered if required. There are additional fees for these services. Baths and grooming can also be arranged prior to dismissal. Fees are based on size, breed, and grooming services.

Non-canine boarders
We do have a separate room for our feline boarders to reduce stress. Other animals such as extra-small dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rabbits can also be boarded in this room.

Reservations
Reservations are required for all stays. During school holidays and major holidays, we book up to 6 weeks in advance, so be sure to call early. All pets will be charged for the day of arrival and the day of departure, regardless of arrival or departure time. During busy times, we reserve the right to charge for the entire number of reserved days, even if the pet is picked up early.

Make your reservation today by calling 563-285-8624.

Requirements
All pets must be free of contagious disease and parasites.

Owners who are not our clients must provide proof of vaccine status. Your veterinarian can call us at 563-285-8624 or fax us the records at 563-285-6798.

For dogs we require the following to be current:
    - rabies
    - DHPP
    - Bordetella
    - negative fecal exam within last 12 months

For cats we require the following to be current:
    - rabies
    - FVRCP
    - negative fecal exam within last 12 months

Any pets not up to date on all the above will have these services performed by our veterinarians at our current charges. The owner is responsible for these charges.

To bring or not to bring?
We feed a premium adult maintenance food (Science Diet). Please bring your pet's own food if on a prescription diet or if you prefer your pet to eat his or her own food.

We prefer individually-packaged meals, or food containers with the appropriate measuring cup and instructions on how much to feed and how often. Please label your containers. Please do not bring large bags of food - we have limited storage space.

We provide all bowls for food and water - ours are stainless steel which is easy to disinfect

Please bring medications your pet requires. Please bring very specific instructions for our staff on how and when to give the medication, and what dose to give. Please let us know why your pet is taking its medications.

Treat and toys are fine - please label them and list as items you brought on the admission form. Be advised, however, that some pets are destructive when confined to kennels so we may not be able to leave toys with pets at all times. This is for your pet's safety. We do NOT recommend bringing rawhide treats to boarding.

Please do not bring bedding. We have a large supply, and do not want your bedding to get lost in our laundry or get damaged here.

Illnesses during boarding
If your pet experiences any health problems while boarding (not eating, diarrhea, vomiting, or something more serious), it will immediately be brought to the attention of our veterinarians. They will then call you by phone to inform you of the problem, and appropriate treatment will be provided. If you cannot be reached, our veterinarians will use their judgment regarding appropriate care/treatment until you can be reached. Veterinary expenses are the responsibility of the owner.
