Hip Certification using PENNHip and OFA Techniques

Hip certification is a procedure highly-recommended for breeding animals, as well as at-risk breeds for hip dysplasia, such as Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, and other large-breed dogs. There are two different techniques for performing this testing - PENNHip certification and OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) certification.

Dr. Dave Eaton and veterinary technician Tonya Young have completed their training in the PENNHip method of hip dysplasia testing. All of our doctors were previously trained in the OFA submission and testing techniques. Scott County Animal Hospital is now able to perform both the OFA hip certification and the PENNHip certification for owners wishing to certify their breeding dogs, or evaluate their pets.

Both these techniques can be performed at the same time, if desired. Both will utilize our digital x-ray machine for the best images and the ability to immediately transmit the images for evaluation. For more information, a link is included below to both the PENNHip website and the OFA website.
